Our new album, "To Think It`s Come To This" is now out. Check out the lyrics and some stories behind the songs:
"WAVELENGTH"
Our attempt at an American radio song. Written by Rue, it`s a song about a breakdown in communication and was begun whilst sitting in Pete`s dining room with an acoustic guitar and eating another of his legendary all day breakfasts
I`m calling to you but you don`t hear my call
I`m talking to you but you don`t hear me at all
Trying to catch your space now baby
Trying to get your wavelength maybve
Cant you hear me I`ve been trying to get through
I`m talking to you but you don`t hear me at all
To live my highs, catch me when I fall
Trying to find that sense of wonder
Trying to break this spell we're under
Can`t you hear me I`ve been trying to get through
I recall I knew someone long ago
Someone that looked a lot like you
Their smile made me feel special, so alive
I`ve been searching, nothing more I can do
We walked miles and you'd always hold my hand
You would always kiss me on goodbyes
We shared dreams as we weatched the sun go down
Reaching out now, won`t you let me come through
Calling to you, talking to you
Calling to you, hear me baby
Talking to you, trying to get through
Trying to catch your space now baby
Trying to get your wavelength maybve
Cant you hear me I`ve been trying to get through

"GIVING UP THE GHOST"
A great track recorded by Don Dixon, check out his version on his "Romantic Depressive" CD, it`s much better than ours!!
You asked how I`ve been, the state of mind I`m in
Everybody says that he`s gone forever
I`m really not the type to give up without a fight
I haven’t turned the page or closed the cover
Cos everybody knows, I`m no good at letting go
I`m not giving up the ghost
If he were here with me I know that he would see
One chance is all I need and he’d remember
We never said goodbye, he just slipped into the night
He could never stay and face the ending
Cos everybody knows
I`m no good at letting go
I`m not giving up the ghost
I`m not giving up the ghost
As foolish as it seems
You won’t get that close and say it’s just a dream
If you see him let know, I`m not good at letting go
I`m not giving up the ghost
If he came back I wouldn`t turn away
And forget the things he`d done and find a new beginning
And till then I`ll be here, another day, another year
Another lonely, lonely night until the morning
Cos everybody knows
I`m no good at letting go
I`m not giving up the ghost
I`m not giving up the ghost
As foolish as it seems
You won’t get that close and say it’s just a dream
If you see him let know, I`m not good at letting go
I`m not giving up the ghost

"WHEN THE MORNING COMES"
Written by Jeff and starting out as a slow, slow song about a commitment phobic person, ended up sounding like a cheesy Eurovision possibility. Great vocal by Winkett though!
Sha la la Sha la la Sha la la
When the morning comes
Traffic lights turn from red to green
But do you know just what that means
I see no signs for the way ahead
Will I ever find the way to your bed?
Sha la la Sha la la Sha la la
When the morning comes
Gripping thoughts and a box of lies
Please don`t stop me, if I keep on trying
Act your age and not your shoe size
Who`ll be there when you stop crying?
But if you`ll stay with me tonight
If you see it through til morning light
I want you to be there
When the morning comes
Sha la la Sha la la Sha la la
When the morning comes
Your life picture is beginning to change
Perhaps that’s why you`re acting so strange
You`ll never know if it’s right or wrong
When the moment arrives and he comes along?
But if you`ll stay with me tonight
If you see it through til morning light
I want you to be there
When the morning comes
Sha la la Sha la la Sha la la
When the morning comes
I will never know just what you wanted to be
I will always show just where you need to see

"NEVER GOOD ENOUGH"
Another attempt to write a three minute pop song with a dark theme yet hummable and smiley hooks. It`s about never being good enough for anyone or anything.
I don`t know if I could be better but I still try my best
I don`t know if I can love you better than all the rest
I don`t know and I`m still wondering
About life and all that stuff
No matter what I try; no matter what I say
My best is never good enough
Perhaps you should have stayed with that guy, the one that always made you smile
With a hip turn of phrase, sparkling eyes. better than me by a mile
You broke my heart; you put me down
And you know that I`m not tough
No matter what I try; no matter what I say
My best is never good enough
Never good enough
Always let you down
Never good enough
Many tears and frowns
Never good enough
Leave you hanging round
Never good enough for love
With a flick of your hips and the flow of your hair you head straight for the doorway
An enigma wrapped up in a mystery you make damn sure you get your way
For one last time; give me one last chance
Don`t leave me feeling so rough
No matter what I try; no matter what I say
My best is never good enough
Never good enough
Always let you down
Never good enough
Many tears and frowns
Never good enough
Leave you hanging round
Never good enough for love
If you say your door is open
I`ll be there yesterday
And if you give me one more moment
I`ll show you I wanna stay
I wanna stay
I wanna stay
Never good enough
Always let you down
Never good enough
Many tears and frowns
Never good enough
Leave you hanging round
Never good enough for love

"DIFFERENT PLACE"
A song written about leaving a specific place but could easily be about the generic places, people and ideals that we often move on from in life
I was born on a different track
With no way forward and no way back
I was born where the stars don`t shine
Where everybody cared but nothing was mine
I took my leave and left my town
I turned my back with a sigh and a frown
Walked on out and I walked on strong
Leaving the past and leaving what was wrong
But if you want to know where I am today
You will find me in that wide open space
I`m in a different place
In a different place from you
I`m in a different place
In a different place from you
I learnt fast that life was slow
The slower you walk – the further you go
The sun’s my guide and the road’s my friend
I gonna ride this journey to my end
But if you want to know where I am today
You will find me out in that wide open space
I`m in a different place
In a different place from you
I`m in a different place
In a different place from you

"TROUBLE WITH LOVE"
I`ll just play around with it a bit and you see what you like
The trouble with love is that you`ve got nowhere to hide
The trouble with love is that it`s always by your side
And when the feelings come
And go just the like the morning tide
You feel that you`ve been taken for a ride
I need your loving now
I need your loving now
The trouble with love is that you`ve got no place to go
The trouble with love is that it`s always rain or snow
Then she smiles and says
That she`ll be yours for all these days
And that she`ll learn to love you in a million ways
I want your loving now
I want your loving now
Oh, they say the problems never go away
And you will find that your heart is inside out
Take me to the place I wanna be
Take me there and set me free
That`s the trouble with love
That`s the trouble with love
The trouble with love is that it`s a mystery
The trouble with love is that it`s sweet and wild and free
Do you only talk the game
Or will you really walk the same
And let me be the picture in your frame
I have your loving now
I have your loving now

"THAT LOOK"
Written by Rue and first performed in an unusual gig in a conservatory in Huddersfield
You don`t need sophistication
just to keep your dreams alive
Don`t need the art of good conversation
When you`ve got that look in your eye
Got that look in your eye
You don`t need little white lies
You don`t have to compromise
you don`t have to be a master of disguise
When you`ve got that look in your eye
Got that look in your eye
And everyday that goes by another dream dies
Dreams are all i have all i own
When i saw her there all i coulod do was stare
She got that look in her eye
She got that look in her eye
She got everything and more
She got that look in her eye
She walked into the room that summer night
She walked into everybodys heart
She dont need no masquerade
stepping out on the parade
Mesmerising, tantalising
She got that look
She got that look in her eye
She got that look in her eye

SAME STAR
Written from the perspective of an old person trying to pass on a sense of hope to a younger person
Wherever you are whatever you do
I`ll be thinking of you
And if I`m right and I know you well
You`ll be thinking too
When the sun shines bright and the moon is full
And the seasons fall in time
Just then I`ll know whether near or far
We’ll be looking at the same star
What life holds for you I pretend to know
But it’s all just game
You`ll make your way and follow your dream
Hoping for fortune and fame
When the sun shines bright and the moon is full
And the seasons fall in time
Just then I`ll know whether near or far
We’ll be looking at the same star
And if the stars refuse to shine
Or clouds obscure your view
Just take my hand and hold me tight
And I will see you through
I will do my best, I will make you strong
With a smile on my face
There will always be something of me that
Gives you mercy and grace
When the sun shines bright and the moon is full
And the seasons fall in time
Just then I`ll know whether near or far
We’ll be looking at the same star

"FIRST TIME"
Written by Jeff and if we knew what it was about, he`d be thoroughly ashamed of himself, ie he`s got no idea whatsoever
The first time we met
I never thought that it would happen
The first time we met
It was always a case of follow fashion
When you looked into my eyes
You saw an open deep desire
And when you looked into my heart
Your spark just lit the fire
When you touched my hand and smiled
I know that I would be your long lost lover
And you would see me through
The first time we met
I thought that it would never happen
The first time we met
It was always a case of follow fashion
Now I know that this will be
A lifetime journey of the soul
The ghosts of all the failed past
Fall in a big black hole
And no matter what you do or say
If you strip me to the bone
I will always hold you close
For you`re no heart of stone
The first time we met
I thought that it would never happen
The first time we met
It was always a case of follow fashion
